Including The Archipelago Region, The Riau Islands Provincial Government Still Needs 60 Percent Of Honorary Workers

BATAM - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) said that around 60 percent of temporary workers are still needed to assist with technical handling on the buffer islands in the area.

"About 60 percent of our honorary staff are still needed, we still need technical personnel such as midwives, nurses, educators for the islands", said Head of the Riau Islands Communication and Information Office, Hasan in Batam, Antara, Wednesday, July 27.

This was conveyed by Hasan in response to the policy to reduce non-organic workers in the government. With a total of about 7,000 honorary workers in the Riau Islands Provincial Government, Hasan said, it was impossible to dismiss all honorary workers in the Riau Islands.

Moreover, Riau Islands are different from other regions because it is an archipelago.

“The government is still opening policy gaps related to Government Employees with Work Agreements (P3K). Maybe later there will be another first aid test because the characters in the islands are different from other areas", said Hasan.

So according to him, given that there are still many community services needed in Riau Islands, especially for islands, the Riau Islands Provincial Government will submit a request to the central government to reopen the first aid test, which is prioritized for honorary workers in Riau Islands.

"Those are workers who have served for so many years, such as on Laut Island, Mantang Island, and other islands, the average honorary staff on duty", he said.

Another solution, said Hasan, is that the government will open a gap for outsourcing acceptance through third parties.

“So if it is opened, the honorary workers can be placed there. So it's just a matter of mechanisms and regulations that we run, there is no mention of honorary staff. But really honorary who have competence", said Hasan.
