Potential For High Waves, BPBD Urges Tourists Not To Swim In South Banten Waters

LEBAK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency appealed to tourists not to swim around the coast in South Banten waters to prevent marine accidents.

"We ask the tourists to comply with the appeal regarding the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) report providing an early warning of high waves ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters in South Banten waters," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Lebak Regency BPBD, Agus Reza Faisal. in Lebak, Sunday 24 July.

Weekend tourists visiting the coast in South Banten waters should be aware of the height of the waves in order to avoid marine accidents.

BMKG estimates that the bad weather in South Banten waters will last for two days.

The Lebak BPBD has issued warnings for bad weather in South Banten waters including Binuangeun Beach, Bagedur Beach, Suka Rain Beach, Cihara Beach, Panggarangan Beach, Tanjung Panto Beach, Bayah Beach, Pulomanuk Beach to Sawarna Beach.

Tourists and local people should not carry out activities on the coast of South Banten, such as swimming because it can cause marine accidents.

During 2022, BPBD Lebak recorded that two tourists who were swept away by high waves in the waters of South Banten died, including tourists from Pandeglang.

"We ask tourists to comply with early warnings by not swimming at the beach," he said, quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, Samsudin, a Bagedur coastal rescue officer said that they conveyed an appeal to tourist visitors through loudspeakers not to swim on the beach, for fear of being dragged by high waves.

"We hope all tourists can enjoy the beach and return home safely," he said.
