Head Of Bappilu Democrat Party Andi Arief To Witness At PPU Regent's Session Abdul Gafur Mas'ud

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor will present the Head of the Democratic Party's Election Winning Body (Bappilu) Andi Arief at the trial for alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services that ensnared the inactive North Penajam Paser Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.

Besides Andi, the prosecutor will also present Deputy II of the Democratic Party BPOKK, Jemmy Setiawan. They will be questioned as witnesses at the Corruption Court at the Samarinda District Court, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 20.

"At the Corruption Court at the Samarinda District Court, the KPK prosecutor team has scheduled the summoning of witnesses for the defendant (PPU Regent) Abdul Gafur Masud, including Andi Arief and Jemmy Setiawan," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Tuesday, 19 July.

The KPK hopes that both of them will attend cooperatively. Ali asked Andi Arief and Jemmy to give honest statements before the Samarinda Corruption Court judge.

The statements from the two, continued Ali, were needed to clarify the allegations of bribery in the procurement of goods and services at the North Penajam Paser Regency Government.

"We hope that the witnesses will be cooperative and present and provide honest statements in front of the trial because from the testimony of the said witnesses it will become clear and clear the alleged actions of the defendant as described in the indictment by the prosecutor team," he said.

Abdul Gafur was charged by prosecutors with accepting bribes of Rp. 5.7 billion. Together with the General Treasurer of the Democratic Party's Branch Representative Council (DPC), Nur Afifah Balqis, the two were suspected of committing unlawful acts.

In the indictment that was read out, it was alleged that Gafur asked for money from PT Borneo Putra Mandiri President Director Ahmad Zuhdi for the operational costs of the East Kalimantan Democratic Party Musda. Furthermore, the gift is made through a trusted person.

The receipt of this money was carried out at the Aston Samarinda Hotel on December 17, 2021. The money was then used by Gafur to nominate himself as Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the East Kalimantan Democratic Party.
