Lecture On PKS, Alexander Marwata Alludes To The Case Of Imported Beef Bribery That Ensnared Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata mentioned the bribery case of imported beef that ensnared former President of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Lutfhi Hasan Ishaaq.

This moment occurred when he opened the Smart Politics with Integrity (PCB) activity which was held as a step to prevent corruption. PKS gets to hear Alexander's lecture.

Before mentioning the corruption case of meat import bribery, Alexander initially said he was amazed by the party. Moreover, PKS is driven by Muslim scholars.

"I was really amazed at the early PKS too. It was driven by Muslim intellectuals, it was really militant," said Alexander when opening the event which was broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Tuesday, July 19.

However, in the middle of the party movement, it turned out that Lutfhi was actually caught in a corruption case. "Until when there was an accident. It was certainly a lesson for PKS," he said.

"Incidentally I was still a judge at the Central Jakarta District Court hearing the case," continued Alexander.

He hopes that PKS can take lessons from the case of Lutfhi Hasan Ishaaq. Alexander believes that PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu is a person of integrity.

"This experience is a bitter lesson, I think, and it can be material for you to do introspection," he said.

Alexander also left a message to PKS, especially for faction members in the DPR. They are expected to be able to draft laws without the need to practice money politics.

Moreover, the KPK often receives reports from the public regarding allegations of money politics. "Friends of Pak Habib (Secretary General of PKS Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi) and friends in the DPR when drafting laws and so on, there is no longer the term money politics and so on," he said.

"We are aware that running a political party requires money. In that context, the KPK has actually conducted a study on the financing of political parties," concluded Alexander.
