LOMBOK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Central Lombok Regency has prepared clean water assistance for residents living in areas prone to drought and water shortages in the 2022 dry season.

"Currently we have started distributing clean water assistance to residents in need. That means the Central Lombok area is starting to be hit by drought," said Central Lombok BPBD Head Lalu Ridwan Makruf at the Central Lombok Regent's Office in Praya, in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province. Monday 18 July.

He added that until now only one village in the East Praya sub-district has submitted a request for clean water assistance.

"Conditions during the dry season are still raining, so not many villages have submitted requests for clean water," he said.

He said that BPBD had prepared 200 tanks of clean water to meet the demands of residents who had difficulty getting clean water because their area was experiencing drought.

"There is no fleet to (transport) our clean water, so we have an MoU with PDAM for the distribution of aid," he said.

Central Lombok BPBD, according to him, is also coordinating with the NTB Provincial Government in distributing clean water assistance to residents living in areas prone to drought.

According to him, parts of the Central Lombok Regency that are prone to drought during the dry season include Janapria, East Praya, West Praya, Southwest Praya, Praya and Jonggat.

"The drought area in Central Lombok is especially in the southern region," he said.
