Supporting The Establishment Of Greater Jakarta, PSI Values Problems In Jabodetabek Are Interrelated

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo, supports the proposal of the Mayor of Depok, Mohammad Idris, regarding the formation of Greater Jakarta, which consists of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.

According to Idris, if Jabodetabek becomes an autonomous unit, Greater Jakarta can be a solution to problems such as congestion, flooding, and waste management. Because, he assesses the problems in Jabodetabek are interrelated.

"I think this is an interesting proposal for us to discuss further. So far, policy integration has been a problem even though Jabodetabek is a unitary megapolitan area whose problems are interrelated," said Anggara in his statement, Thursday, July 14.

However, the proposal for the establishment of Greater Jakarta along with the movement of the capital city still has to be discussed comprehensively. According to Anggara, there must be an appropriate reference to unite this area.

Anggara considered that the formulation of the idea of Jabodetabek after the transfer of the capital should be initiated by local governments. He encouraged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to initiate discussions with relevant mayors and regents.

"The idea must be discussed between the Jabodetabek regional governments from now on, because the regional governments who understand the problem the most, even though the authority for changes are in the center. We encourage the Jakarta Provincial Government to initiate many discussions about this, because we are the center of the economy," said Anggara.

Previously, Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris suggested that the suburbs of Jakarta be merged into Greater Jakarta.

"One of my ideas is that if you want the development of Jakarta and its surroundings to be successful, unite Greater Jakarta," said Mohammad Idris after inspecting the slaughtering of qurbani on Jalan H Icang, Tugu Village, Cimanggis, Sunday, July 10.

According to Idris, the problems that exist in the Jakarta buffer zone can be easily resolved if the areas are merged. He also mentioned the role of one governor in merging the area. "The flood problem, can all the problems be solved? If there is one governor for Greater Jakarta," he said, confirming that Depok wanted to enter Jakarta.
