PMK Outbreak Still "Crazy" 1,530 Livestock In Bengkulu Infected With PMK

BENGKULU - The Livestock and Animal Health Service of Bengkulu Province stated that 1,530 livestock animals in Bengkulu Province have been infected with the Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD) outbreak.

Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Service of Bengkulu Province, M. Syarkawi in Bengkulu, Monday, July 11, said that PMK cases in Bengkulu Province continued to increase.

Currently, the most cases of PMK in Bengkulu Province are in Rejang Lebong Regency with findings of 766 cases.

"Currently, PMK cases in Bengkulu Province have increased and the highest finding cases are in Rejang Lebong Regency," said Syarkawi as quoted by Antara. He explained that the FMD outbreak in Bengkulu Province was in eight regions, namely Rejang Lebong Regency, Kepahiang Regency, Central Bengkulu Regency, Seluma Regency, South Bengkulu Regency, North Bengkulu Regency, Mukomuko Regency and finally in Kaur Regency.

In Kaur Regency, his party found as many as 16 livestock infected with the FMD outbreak.

Thousands of livestock infected with FMD have different symptoms such as lack of appetite, weight loss and so on, but so far there have been no additional cases of animal deaths due to FMD.

In order to avoid the spread of PMK which is increasingly widespread, his party continues to carry out strict restrictions regarding the arrival of livestock originating from outside the Bengkulu Province.

"We are still doing these restrictions to ensure that livestock entering Bengkulu Province are healthy by continuing to carry out health checks for livestock," he said.
