Having A Large Massbase In West Java, Ridwan Kamil Is Considered Potential To Be A Vice Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil is considered a potential vice-presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election. He even has the potential to help his partner win votes in the province.

Executive Director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, said several names can be predicted as vice-presidential candidates besides Ridwan Kamil.

They are Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, Governor of West Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa. However, if you want a big vote in West Java, the name Ridwan Kamil can be taken into account.

"If they want to find a vice-presidential candidate with the largest electoral population, of course, Mr. Ridwan Kamil. Because West Java has the largest population representation", said Executive Director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, in Jakarta, Thursday, July 7.

As for presidential candidates, several names might be champions in the 2024 presidential election. They are Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

However, Pangi stated that the selection of a combination of presidential and vice-presidential candidates depends on many things. In addition to compatibility, targets can also be decisive.

"One of them is Mr. Ridwan Kamil whose habitus is suitable as a candidate for vice president", he said.

Taking the results of the CigMark survey conducted on June 9-17 with a total of 1,200 respondents, the name Ridwan Kamil influences support.

In one of the simulations carried out by the survey agency, if in the 2024 presidential election Anies Baswedan was paired with Ridwan Kamil, the percentage of voters was higher than in other pairs such as Ganjar Pranowo and Sandiaga Uno.

Of the thousands of respondents, 40.3 percent supported Anies and Ridwan Kamil while only 36.1 percent of Ganjar-Sandiaga were chosen.

Likewise, when paired with Prabowo Subianto. With a simulation against Ganjar Pranowo-Erick Thohir, the Prabowo-Ridwan Kamil pair could get 44.3 percent of the respondents' votes.

In addition, it is also mentioned that Ridwan Kamil's name is stronger than other figures who have slightly increased. Pangi assessed that the name of the former mayor of Bandung has been heard more and more recently, especially after the death of his son, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz.

This then caused public sentiment towards Ridwan Kamil. "Including perhaps how (influence) public sentiment towards Ridwan Kamil has increased because of religious values, humanism values, and so on", concluded Pangi.
