As A Result Of A Series Of Accidents, KSOP Labuan Bajo Issues A Warning When Crossing The Waters Of Pulau Kambing

LABUAN BAJO - The Labuan Bajo Class III Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) Office issued a warning to be careful sailing through the waters of Kambing Island in the Komodo National Park area, West Manggarai, NTT, after a ship accident occurred in the near future.

"If someone forces a voyage, they are responsible for the ship itself, and must submit a statement that all risks are the responsibility of the captain on board," said Head of Class III KSOP Labuan Bajo Hasan Sadili in Labuan Bajo, Antara, Friday, 1 July.

The KSOP appeals and warnings are addressed to tourism actors, both ship owners and travel agents.

Previously, there were two incidents of ship accidents at the same time in the same waters.

The first incident was the crash of the motor sailing boat (KLM) Tiana Liveaboard due to bad weather causing the ship to capsize, last Tuesday, June 28. The second incident was a shipwreck, due to bad weather which caused the rudder to break, last Thursday.

Hasan hopes that there will be no more similar incidents at this location, as well as in other locations, by ensuring that all procedures on board the ship are met in order to provide security and comfort during the voyage.

In addition, he added, KSOP together with the Indonesian Navy are ready to carry out surprise inspections on ships that are anchored.

Regarding the cause of the KLM Tiana Liveaboard accident some time ago, Hasan said that the temporary suspicion of the cause of the accident was purely natural, namely wind and strong waves that made the ship capsize.

He conveyed that the seaworthiness of the ship itself was in good condition with the ship's equipment that was in accordance with standards.
