JAKARTA - The installation of a new signboard for Jalan Hamid Arief, in RW 06, Tanah Tinggi Village, Johar Baru District, was protested by residents.

Residents protested because the installation of the banner was carried out in the middle of the night and was not known to residents.

In response, the Head of the Bina Marga Sub-department, Central Jakarta, Agustio, answered the residents' accusations. He admitted that the installation of the rainbow board was indeed their job.

Regarding the time when the rainbow board was installed in the middle of the night, he answered practically.

"Well, if you work at night, why at night? Why can it be day or night. Don't think negatively about that, okay?" he answered when contacted by reporters, Friday, July 1.

He said that his party only had the task of installing a new street sign in the Central Jakarta area. Therefore, they are not related to the matter of choosing the name of the figure chosen to be the name of a street in a place.

"We were only told to install it. If it was only for the names, there was a Governor's Decree," he said.

When asked about the residents' protests, he explained that the process of changing the street name had gone through several stages. Well, the Central Jakarta Buna Marga Sub-dept. gets a share in installing the rainbow board.

"Look, look. It's all sealed up. Coincidentally, the Bina Marga Sub-dept. got a share of the nameplate, we don't know. There are other services. Our job is only to install it after the decree. The photos are there during the day. But I don't know, maybe at night. too," he said.

Previously, it was reported that protests related to the change in street names by the Governor of DKI Jakarta continued to emerge. This time, protests came from residents of RW 06 Tanah Tinggi Village, Johar Baru District.

Residents claimed that they had never been involved in deliberation or notification of road name changes from the local kelurahan.

"We were never involved in deliberation at all. Residents, even the head of the RT did not receive any notification. We also residents strongly objected to the change in the name of the road," said Irzon, a resident of RT 10/06, Tanah Tinggi Village, Johar. New, rejected, Thursday, June 30.

Irzon said that the name change of Jalan Tanah Tinggi V to Jalan Hamid Arief did not involve any residents. Even the local RT did not know about this and instead the street signage was installed secretly.

"They suddenly put up the rainbow sign in the middle of the night without anyone knowing and the RT," he said.
