JAKARTA - The demonstration of hundreds of students who are members of the National Alliance for Reform of the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building, Tuesday, June 28, became chaotic.
The riots occurred after the police sprayed gas hydrants to extinguish the fire due to the actions of a number of students who burned trash and banners near the fence of the DPR Building.
The students forced their way into the DPR building. The mass of the action asked to meet the Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani. Otherwise, they will stay in front of the capitol building.
"We have to meet with Puan Maharani, then we leave from this place," said the orator from the top of the command car.
"Open, open, open the door, open the door right now," shouted the mass of students.
The protesters hope that President Joko Widodo will respond to the demand for the RKUHP to be revoked.
"We must also get a response from our president regarding our demonstrations and refusal. We must revoke the RKUHP," he said.
The demands of the students are to reject the RKUHP. The masses carried demo attributes, such as banners and posters against the RKUHP.
"Reject the Criminal Code!" write the banner that the students unfurled.
The students even put up a banner that read 'This building was confiscated. Under reform reform'.
