Papuan Prosecutor's Office Investigate Alleged Corruption In Electrical Cable Work In Oksibil

JAYAPURA - The head of the Papua High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati) Nikolaus Kondomo confirmed that local investigators were investigating allegations of corruption in the construction of an underground power cable network in Oksibil, Bintang Mountains Regency.

"It is true that the Papua Prosecutor's Office investigators are handling a case of alleged corruption in the construction of a medium-sized land cable power line for zone I of the Oksibil electricity network, which is handled by the Bintang Mountains Industry and Trade Department from the 2017-2017 APBD worth Rp. 40,097,000,000." said Nikolaus Kondomo, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 28.

He explained, to follow up on reports of alleged corruption in the underground electricity network, his party carried out an investigation.

Based on the investigation, elements of alleged corruption were found, so they were followed up by issuing Sprint No. 2 dated July 8, 2022 regarding allegations of corruption over the construction of a medium ground cable power line for zone I of the Oksibil electricity network.

It was recorded that seven people were being questioned, so the case will be escalated to investigation, said Kondomo.

He explained that from the results of the investigation, it was revealed that the parties suspected of being involved in the project were the Director of PT Nusa Power, the Head of Bappeda and the Secretary of the Bintang Mountains, the Committee for the Procurement of Goods and Services and the PPTK.

From the results of the investigation, it was revealed that a total loss occurred, because apart from not complying with the specifications, it was also not done thoroughly, even though the payment was made in full.

In fact, the findings in the field revealed that the construction of the underground power cable network was only carried out three kilometers from the 17 km target.

In addition, the raw material used should be copper but in fact only aluminum wires.

The results of the BPK audit also revealed that there was a state loss in the project, because payments were still made in full even though the work was not according to specifications, Kondomo also said.
