JAKARTA - Kompolnas asked the National Police to remain professional in handling the fraud case of the Indosurya Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP) even though the two suspects were released from the detention center because their prison terms had expired.

"We hope that (the handling of cases, ed) will be carried out professionally and independently so that it will grow public trust more broadly," said Kompolnas member Muhammad Dawam to reporters, Saturday, June 25.

Dawam emphasized that the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit was right in handling this fraud case. However, the court has the authority to determine the status of the suspect.

"What has been done by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police in this case has procedurally complied with the applicable legal rules," he said.

He also ensured that this case would continue to be investigated thoroughly even though the two suspects with the initials HS and JI had run out.

This release, continued Dawam, was only because their detention period had expired and the suspect's right to be released from detention had to be carried out. "However, it does not mean that he is free from his status as a suspect," he said.

"Because the court which has the authority to judge a person's status, including the status of a suspect, is sentenced to acquittal or is subject to a crime," he continued.

Previously, two suspects in the Indosurya Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP) case had been released from the detention center because their prison terms had expired. In fact, the case files had previously been transferred by investigators from the Dittipideksus Bareskrim Polri to the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung).

"Yes (the suspect is free, ed), his detention period is over for 120 days," said the Director of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan when confirmed, Saturday.

Whisnu emphasized that this case was still ongoing. The three suspects are Henry Surya as the Chairman of KSP Indosurya; Cooperative Director Manager Suwito Ayub, whose whereabouts are still being pursued; and Head Admin, June Indria.
