Palembang Polrestabes Only Found Long-barreled Guns In Brio's Car, No Explosives

PALEMBANG - The City of Basar Police (Polrestabes) Palembang, South Sumatra, said they did not find explosives in the Honda Brio car which was found parked without a driver on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Ilir Timur I District.

"No objects that are suspected of being explosives were found," said Head of Palembang Police, Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib, in Palembang, Antara, Friday, June 24.

According to him, this was known after an examination by the Palembang Polrestabes police along with the South Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade was carried out on the car.

"We have processed the crime scene, the car itself is already at the Palembang Mapolrestabes for inspection, which was initially brought to the Mobile Brigade Headquarters of the South Sumatra Police," he added.

On the other hand, he said, currently the police are still investigating the long-barreled firearm found by the police in the private car.

"Currently our members are still conducting an investigation regarding this matter, as well as to reveal the owner of the car," he said.

Previously, the head of the Palembang Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Tri Wahyudi, said the minibus was branded with a red Honda Brio with the police number B-1205-DE.

The car was found parked in the middle of the road locked without a driver by the witness, namely a police officer from the Satlantas Polrestabes who was passing to make arrangements for the highway there, Friday at 06.00 WIB.

Furthermore, he said, the witness was assisted by residents at the location trying to push the car to the edge so that traffic would not be disturbed.

"Witnesses saw from the outside of the car that there was a long-barreled firearm on the floor behind the driver's seat," he said. The Palembang Police Identification and Paminal Unit immediately followed up on the findings.

"The type and type of weapon is not known for certain," he said.

The discovery of a car suspected of carrying a firearm and suspicious object was recorded in an amateur video circulating on social media Instagram for 41 seconds.

In the video, the South Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade Gegana personnel came using a complete security vehicle to the location.
