Pertamina Ready To Collaborate With PLN On Electricity And Steam Supply In The Rokan Block

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to make various preparations for the smooth operation of the Rokan work area (WK). One of them is by ensuring that the electricity and steam supply for the CA is maintained when Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) officially operates the working area starting August 9, 2021.

Pertamina's SVP of Corporate Communication & Investor Relations, Agus Suprijanto, said that PLN had submitted an initial offer to Pertamina regarding the supply of electricity and steam.

Agus said, the availability of electricity and steam for the Rokan WK is one of the important things that must be fulfilled for oil production activities, which currently reach 170,000 barrels of oil per day or around 25 percent of national oil production.

Furthermore, Agus said, Pertamina is building communication with various parties for the operational preparation of the WK Rokan, including the provision of electricity and steam.

"Pertamina welcomes PLN's desire to provide electricity and steam supply for WK Rokan starting August 9, 2021. By cooperating with BUMN in the electricity sector, we hope that the preparation of post-outsourced electricity and steam supply remains safe. PLN and PHR will conduct intensive discussions regarding this matter in in the near future, "he said, in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, October 29.

Agus said, currently WK Rokan gets electricity and steam supply from an integrated power system which includes 3 main power generation facilities namely Minas Gas Turbine, Central Duri Gas and North Duri Cogen (NDC).

Regarding PLN's offer to provide electricity and steam at the Rokan WK, Agus said that currently Pertamina has submitted a response and is waiting for a further proposal from the power company.

Pertamina, said Agus, hopes that the discussion of the Electricity and Steam Sale and Purchase Agreement with PLN will run well and smoothly, so that it can be signed in November 2020.

"Synergy among energy SOEs does not only increase portfolios that mutually reinforce operational performance in each business sector, but also hopefully encourage the government's strategic development projects to run well according to the expected target," he said.
