BNN Kendari Rehabilitates 20 Drug Addicts, Majority From Students

KENDARI - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, rehabilitated as many as 20 drug addicts in this area.

Head of BNN Kendari Murniaty said addicts undergoing rehabilitation were dominated by students. "As of June 23, 2022, there are 20 addicts undergoing rehabilitation at the Kendari BNN Clinic. Addicts consist of students, entrepreneurs, and civil servants, but students dominate rehabilitation," he said in Kendari, Antara, Thursday, June 23.

He said the number of drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation in this area continues to increase every year, dominated by moderate category addicts.

Even so, Murniaty said there was one person who was categorized as a heavy addict so he was referred to the Lido Rehabilitation Center in West Java so that he could recover from drug addiction.

"Of the 20 people we rehabilitated, there was one person who was referred to the Lido Rehabilitation Center in West Java, the rest here (BNN Kendari Clinic) outpatient," said Murniaty.

The majority of drug addicts who are rehabilitated use shabu-shabu. He invited all parties to unite in fighting drug abuse and illicit trafficking in order to protect the nation's generation.

"We must have a united commitment to fight drugs so that we can create the nation's generation, our next generation. If our generation is exposed to drugs, then who will continue this nation's relay?," he explained.

He added that in eradicating drug abuse and illicit trafficking, his party collaborated with various parties, ranging from regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the scope of Kendari City, across education, traditional leaders, community leaders, and community leaders.

In addition, his party cooperates with residents in urban villages, especially areas that are mapped as drug-prone areas with a community-based intervention system (IBM).
