Boy Rafli Says TNI AD Is The Main Strength Of BNPT Assistance In Composing Strategy To Combat Terrorism

MAGELANG - Head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar, said the Indonesian Army is one of the main forces helping BNPT implement the national strategy for counter-terrorism.

This was conveyed by Boy during the 2022 Indonesian Army Unit Commander Ceremony at the Military Academy (Akmil), Magelang, Central Java, Thursday, June 23.

"The Indonesian Army is one of the main forces that help us in working on a national strategy to counter-terrorism", Boy said in a written statement, quoted from Antara.

Commissioner Boy said the Indonesian Army could make preemptive efforts by mobilizing the collaboration of elements of the Indonesian Army (TNI) leadership in the regions and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) in creating a safe situation and instilling tolerance in the regions.

"In addition, the TNI can also be involved in preventive actions, law enforcement, and cooperation", he added.

To optimize the role of the Indonesian Army, Commissioner Boy conveyed that the Army Commander General Andika Perkasa advised the importance of synergism between the BNPT and the TNI in efforts to combat terrorism.

According to Commissioner Boy, both sides must continue to improve synergy, especially in terms of intelligence.

"I have communicated with the Commander-in-Chief several times, he conveyed that we (BNPT and Indonesian Army) should work together to strengthen intelligence activities in tackling the threat of terrorism", he explained.

The Unit Commander Ceremony was attended by 747 participants who received briefings and discussed with state figures. The debriefing material is provided to be a provision to optimize the performance and readiness of the unit in carrying out the task.

"The unit commander in carrying out his duties and responsibilities is expected to have commitment, intention, sincerity, sincerity, and courage in leading his unit", he said.
