PEKANBARU - The investigation into the alleged corruption of Rp129.6 billion in Public Service Assistance (BLU) funds at the Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University (UIN Suska) Riau for the 2019 fiscal year is still ongoing.

The Riau Attorney General's Office recently questioned the former Chancellor of UIN Suska Riau, Akhmad Mujahidin as a witness in Pekanbaru on Monday, June 20.

He was asked for information regarding allegations of corruption in the management of hundreds of billions of funds sourced from the APBN.

"He is being investigated by the Riau Prosecutor's Office of the Special Prosecutor's Office investigator regarding the process and accountability of the 2019 Suska Riau UIN budget," said Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasipenkum) and Public Relations of the Riau Prosecutor's Office Bambang Heripurwanto in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 22.

On the same day, the investigation team also examined a witness with the initials SR who at that time served as the Head of the Verification Subdivision of UIN Suska Riau in 2019.

"SR was examined regarding the budget mechanism and administrative completeness of the 2019 UIN Suska Riau budget disbursement," he said.

The examination of these witnesses is carried out to provide information for the purpose of investigating a criminal case which he himself heard, saw and experienced.

Until now, the Riau High Prosecutor's Office investigator team has examined more than 20 witnesses in this case in an effort to find legal facts about alleged corruption at one of the religion-based campuses in Riau.

The investigative team is also still calculating the potential loss to the state due to the alleged corruption case at the state university.
