JAKARTA - Bintan Triathlon 2024's sport tourism event was successfully held at Lagoi Bay, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, on June 1, 2024.

The event, which is a collaboration between the Bintan Regency Government, PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala (BRC), and TriFactor Asia, also received support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

The success of this event not only emphasized Bintan's position as a leading tourism destination, but also a catalyst in the recovery of the post-pandemic tourism and economic sectors.

This year, Bintan Triathlon managed to attract 400 participants from 35 countries, a significant increase compared to last year which was only followed by 200 people. Not only participants, this event also brought in an official team and their families, which contributed to an increase in tourist visits to the Lagoi Bay area.

The Regent of Bintan, Roby Kurniawan, expressed his appreciation for the extraordinary enthusiasm of the participants and visitors.

Bintan tourism is now recovering and showing positive developments. With the number of participants which has doubled compared to the previous year, this shows that Bintan is increasingly in demand for international-scale sporting events. We are committed to continuing to support activities like this to encourage the promotion of Bintan tourism," Roby said in his statement.

During the event, a positive impact was immediately felt, especially in the hotel sector in the Lagoi area. Head of the Bintan Regency Tourism Office, Arief Sumarsono, revealed that the hotel occupancy rate reached almost 100 percent during Bintan Triathlon 2024.

Apart from the participants, there were also families and support teams present, so tourist visits to Bintan increased significantly. This also opens up opportunities for MSME players to market their local products," explained Arief.

The local community also felt the benefits of this event, not only through economic improvement but also opportunities to interact with participants from various countries, creating valuable cultural experiences.
