Government Process To Return Money For Jiwasraya Insurance Customers

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives (DPR) has failed to form a special pantia (Pansus) to investigate PT Asuransi Jiwasraya's default case. In exchange, the DPR will form a working committee (Panja) based on the related commissions, because the formation process is faster.

Special Staff of the Ministry of BUMN, Arya Sinulingga, said that the ministry completely left it to the DPR whether to form a special committee or committee to handle the Jiwasraya issue. Even so, he asked the DPR to help speed up the process of resolving the case.

"For the special committee or committee we leave it to the DPR, which is the best mechanism. Which mechanism is felt to accelerate the existing process was taken from DPR friends," said Arya, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, January 15th.

Political support from the DPR is also expected by Arya. The goal is so that the Ministry of BUMN and Jiwasraya can return customer money. Regardless, the mechanism that will be adopted by the DPR, the focus is on the return of funds.

"We really hope that the DPR will support us politically, we hope the DPR will support us politically so that the BUMN and Jiwasraya ministries can get cash so that they can return customer funds," he said.

According to Arya, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir has taken steps to restructure Jiwasraya's debt as a solution to the problem. Then, the issue of holding company formation is still waiting for the formation of government regulations (PP).

Then, continued Arya, another step that can be taken as a solution is to hope that investors will provide funds to Jiwasraya's subsidiaries in collaboration with other SOEs.

"Then, thirdly, there are several BUMNs that collaborate with Jiwasraya insurance to create a subsidiary called Jiwasraya Putra. We hope that in the first second quarter it will also be able and there will be results from incoming investors," he said.

Not only that, another solution is to sell a stock portfolio. Jiwasraya will sell shares that can be sold. "Well, this is what we expect directly from the cash funds that can be generated from this," he explained.

Customer Expectations

The admin staff of the Jiwasraya Victims Forum, Puspita (65) said the priority of the struggle is to pay back customer policies. Moreover, this case has passed one and a half years without clarity.

"If asked to wait a long time, we lose energy, we are tired. It's been a year and a half. Our members are old people, who are full of diseases. Not healthy people. We are not conglomerates," said Puspita.

Puspita explained, the Jiwasraya victim forum has 300 members. Of the total number of members, 50-60 percent are 60 years old on average. Meanwhile, 10 percent are over 75 years old.

"Not all of the victims complained to me. Some are very old. You can see those who come like me here, I am 65 years old, those who come are still strong to fight. Others cannot, I am already in a wheelchair," he explained.

In addition, Puspita explained the reason most customers choose insurance at Jiwasraya, because of the ease with which the product can disburse policy funds. Moreover, the investment value is profitable.

"First, insurance, so if there is anything with us, it will immediately disburse. Our children, our family, can immediately use these funds. So, it is safer from deposits, safer than fixed income. , this is fixed. We'll just be flat, like a deposit, "he said.

Puspita hopes that the government will not only promise to return the money of Jiwasraya customers. Refunds must be a priority in handling cases of default on this policy.

"We are very grateful for the priority. Because if the Criminal Investigation Unit, the Police, the Attorney General's Office, frankly, I am just an ordinary citizen. I am not used to the term prosecutor, I am an ordinary human, I have never dealt with the law or anything. our funds come back. That's all, "he explained.

With regard to the special committee or panja in the effort to handle the Jiwasraya case, Puspita left it to the DPR as the decision holder in carrying out its supervisory function.

"I do not understand, panja, special committee. For me what is important, the money of our members, which all Jiwasraya returned by Red and White, our country," he said.
