South Jakarta Damkar Sub-dept. Officer, Sartono, when confirmed, said that the fire was reported by the management of Pasaraya Manggarai, who initially saw black smoke coming out of the lower floor of the building.

"At around 12.00 WIB, one of the employees who saw the thick smoke reported it to the management and immediately contacted the firefighters," said Sartono to reporters reported by Antara, Sunday, October 25.

According to Sartono, the fire originated from an electric panel in the "Basement" of one Pasaraya Manggarai.

The blackout process involved 14 units of Damkar cars with 50 personnel. Efforts to extinguish were also assisted by a Damkar car unit from East Jakarta.

The blackout lasted for approximately 1.5 hours, thick smoke coming out of the building made it difficult for officers to extinguish the fire on the ground floor of the building.

"The current situation is that the fire is under control, it is cooling down," said Sartono.

There were no fatalities in the fire incident. The total loss is still being tracked by officers.
