Update On COVID-19 As Of 23 October: 4,369 New Cases, Total Cases Passed 380 Thousand

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 42,287 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 4,369 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 381,910 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Friday, October 23.

Today's cases recovered have increased by 34,094, so that a total of 305,100 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 118 people and a total of 13,077 people.

The province with the most new cases is DKI Jakarta with 952 new cases and a total of 99,158 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by Central Java which has 571 new cases with a total of 31,302 cases. West Java has 504 new cases and a total of 33,147 cases. East Java has 295 new cases and a total of 50,364 cases. Then, Riau has 276 new cases and a total of 12,877 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,093 cases recovered. Followed by West Sumatra with an increase of 523 recovered cases, Central Java with an increase of 470 recovered cases, and East Java with an increase of 341 recovered cases.

Then, there are 3 provinces that reported having no new cases today. The provinces are Bangka Belitung, West Sulawesi and Gorontalo.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 4,253,425. In detail, as many as 4,172,421 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 81,004 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.3 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 161,763 people. Currently, 501 districts / cities from 34 provinces have had COVID-19 cases.
