MANADO - Regional Patrol Team C Samapta Polresta Manado, North Sulawesi, arrested three men suspected of stealing dozens of dogs or commonly known as "dogers".

"The three alleged perpetrators, each AT, 24 years old, SM, 28 years old, and CT, 31 years old, were arrested around the Maesa Bridge, Perkamil Village, Manado," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sulawesi Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, June 8th.

The disclosure of the dog theft started with a resident's report to the Manado Police.

One of the residents reported to the police that his car, which was rented by the three suspects, was suspected of being used to steal dogs.

"These suspicions were heightened by turning off the GPS in the car by the suspect as well as information from fellow car owners that the three people were a herd of thieves," said Abast.

Based on the report, continued Abast, the Rayon Patrol Team immediately acted by conducting a search around Manado City until they finally caught a group of thieves around Perkamil Village, Paal Dua District.

The Rayon Patrol Team intercepted the car used by the alleged perpetrators when they were around the Maesa Perkamil Bridge.

"When the car was searched, the police found evidence of 12 dead dogs," said Abast.

In addition to getting the dozens of dogs, the Patrol Team also obtained a number of evidences, including sharp weapons and poison to kill dogs.

"During the search, the police also found a number of other pieces of evidence, namely two badiks, a samurai sword, an iron with a length of 70 centimeters, two flashlights, and a black plastic bag containing potash or dog poison," he said.

The three alleged perpetrators, residents of Wanea Sub-district, were then taken to the Manado Police Headquarters for further examination.
