19 Students In Ciledug Arrested After Attacking School With Sajams, Stones And Firecrackers

TANGERANG - A total of 19 students were arrested by the police after attacking a school using sharp weapons (sajams) and firecrackers in the Ciledug area, Tangerang City.

Tangerang Metro Police Chief Kombes Zain Dwi Nugroho said the incident occurred on Tuesday, May 31, at 13.00 WIB.

Zain added that of the dozens of students who were arrested, 16 of them were named suspects because they were carrying a knife.

"16 have been named suspects, while 3 other students are witnesses," said Zain when confirmed, Monday, June 6.

Zain explained the chronology of the attack. According to him, the incident began when a group of perpetrators attacked the target school by throwing stones and releasing firecrackers.

"This resulted in several broken windows and one injured victim from the SMK (the target)," he said.

The police who received a report from the victim (the school that was attacked), immediately went to the location and secured the dozens of students along with evidence of weapons, stones and firecrackers.

"We managed to secure as many as 19 students involved in the attack along with evidence of sharp weapons and firecrackers," he said.

For their actions, they were charged with Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph 1 UURI No. 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection in conjunction with article 170 of the Criminal Code paragraph 2 letter 1e and or article 2 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning the Emergency Law Subs of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the juvenile justice system.

"16 people are suspects, and at this time they are still being asked for information to account for their actions," he concluded.
