JAKARTA - A number of civilians who are members of Conscience 98 have urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to follow up on allegations of corruption, collusion, nepotism and money laundering involving the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his family. This institution should take firm steps.
"We, from the '98 exponents who are members of Conscience 98 who have moral and constitutional responsibilities in the 1998 reform history, urge the KPK to immediately examine Joko Widodo's assets with the wealth of his family, his wife, children and children, his son-in-law, and his brothers and sisters in the last 10 years," said one of the representatives of Conscience 98. Ubedilah Badrun told reporters quoted on Wednesday, January 8.
Ubedilah on that occasion also mentioned Jokowi's inclusion in the list of corrupt figures according to the Organizational Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) version. He said the findings of the international institution should be of concern to the KPK.
Moreover, reports of alleged corruption committed by Jokowi and his family and those closest to him have been submitted to the KPK. There are two reports, continued Ubedilah, namely allegations of KKN and money laundering which were submitted on January 10, 2022 and reports of gratification and/or bribery using private jet facilities by Jokowi's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep.
"It was also stated that during the trial of the former Governor of North Maluku, the term Medan block was allegedly related to Jokowi's family," he said.
"So the KPK asks for a report like especially when many have reported Joko Widodo and his family," continued Ubedilah.
Meanwhile, KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika said a number of reports mentioned by the civil society group were not yet in the investigation stage. However, he reminded that there are a number of criteria for cases that can be handled by his institution.
"The first (asspectedly related, red) state losses are at least Rp. 1 billion, the second is civil servants or state administrators," Tessa said on a separate occasion.
"Whether the reported case is included in the KPK criteria or not, it can be seen. So not all cases can be handled by the KPK," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Then, the anti-corruption commission must also ensure that there is evidence to ensnare related parties in the case being handled. "We really have to be prudent," he said.
So, Tessa asked all parties to be patient because every complaint from the public that came in must be followed up. "Not everything or the review at the reporting and investigation level can be made public because it is closed. At that time, it has been raised to the investigation stage based on the current policy, all cases will be submitted to the public," he concluded.
