JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo visited the painting exhibition Pesona Budaya Nusantara at the Central Java Cultural Park Building in Surakarta. Ganjar was amazed by the 150 paintings by top artists from various regions in Indonesia.

Ganjar carefully enjoyed one by one the paintings on display. There are a number of paintings that quite catch Ganjar's attention, one of which is his own face painting which is quite unique.

In the painting, Ganjar is painted like a rocker. He stood with his arms raised up with long hair and a headband. But instead of saying that the painting is a rocker, Ganjar actually says that he looks like a shaman.

“Is this a rocker or a shaman? It's a shaman. Why rockers using agate stone?" joked Ganjar, greeted by laughter from the artists.

Besides Ganjar's face, there is also the face of another important figure. Like Soekarno, Joko Widodo, Megawati Soekarno Putri, Gus Dur, and so on.

“I met painters who came from various regions. Some are from all over Java, some are from Bali, Bengkulu, Batam, Jogja, Kalimantan, Lampung, and many more. All of them exhibit their paintings and of course, their works are very beautiful, with various expressions that are developed," said Ganjar in a written statement distributed by the Central Java Provincial Government, Saturday, June 4.

In Bung Karno Month, Ganjar continued, his party tries to provide space for artists to express themselves. There is painting, music, traditional arts, and others.

"Yesterday there was also a puppet show. We try to give them space to be artists, to express themselves. And it seems that if we look at the faces of the artists, their faces are rosy again because they are able to exhibit. And of course, this is happy because above all that humans strive for, happiness is number one," he said.

Ganjar said he would continue to provide space for artists to express themselves. Especially at this time, the condition of the pandemic has started to improve. “And with caution, once again with caution we celebrate a little freedom, after two years of being beaten by the pandemic. Hopefully, in the future this kind of activity can continue," he concluded.

Meanwhile, one of the artists, Nono Sriyono, appreciated Ganjar for giving space to the artists. Moreover, Ganjar came himself to give encouragement.

“This award is extraordinary because the Province of Central Java facilitates us, gives us space, and Mr. Ganjar is very kind. This is extraordinary, because after two years we have fallen, thank God we can now express ourselves again,” he said.
