Two Motorcycle Thief Specialists In Cilincing Arrested While Riding Victim's Motorcycle

JAKARTA - The Cilincing Police have again arrested two young men suspected of being motorcycle theft specialists. The two men had the initials ES (28) and RY alias Ambon (35).

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for AKP Alex Chandra said that the arrests took place in Sukapura, Cilincing, North Jakarta, Wednesday, June 1. The two perpetrators, said Alex, had carried out their actions three times.

"I'm already a specialist, so it's been three times. We are still investigating it now," said Alex when contacted by VOI, Thursday, June 2.

Alex explained that the arrest of the perpetrator began when the victim, Muhammad Ridho (19), left his campus for a cafe in the Cilincing area, North Jakarta. After arriving at the crime scene (TKP) the motorbike was parked in front of the cafe.

"The motorcycle was locked on the handlebars and locked, then the victim entered the cafe. At around 03.30 the victim intended to go to the shop next to the cafe past the motorbike parking lot, apparently the victim saw that his motorbike was gone," he continued.

Ridho shouted and asked the witnesses, Marcel and Zidane, to find the victim's motorbike.

After arriving in the Semper Barat area, Cilincing, continued, Alex, the victim found the perpetrator driving his motorbike.

"Marce and Zidane and the Opsnal team who were on patrol managed to secure the two perpetrators," he explained.

After the incident, the perpetrator was taken to the Cilincing Police Station for further investigation. In addition, the police also secured evidence such as letter T keys and motorbikes.

"1 unit of 2016 Honda Beat motorcycle in Blue Pitih color No. Pol: B 4009 BJV, 1 original STNK, 2 ignition keys, 2 letter Y keys, 3 letter L keys, 1 letter T key and 1 magnetic key," said Alex.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 363 paragraph (1) 4 and 5 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison.
