60 More Days BMKG Predicts Rambangaru Region, East Sumba To Experience Rainless Days, Beware Of Fires

KUPANG - Class II Kupang Climatology Station The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the Rambangaru area, East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, experienced conditions of an extreme long day without rain (HTH).

"This area with a long extreme category is prone to drought threats with HTH conditions of more than 60 days," said BMKG Kupang Class II Climatology Station Head Rahmattulloh Adji in a statement received in Kupang, Antara, Tuesday, May 31.

He said it was related to the monitoring of the Dasarian III HTH in May 2022 in NTT which was renewed as of May 31, 2022.

The NTT area is generally in the very short HTH category (1-5 days). However, a number of areas also experienced very long HTH (21-30 days), namely around Warukasu Ende, around Wairing Lembata, around Kawangu and Kamanggih, East Sumba, around Stramet, Tardamu, and Daieko Sabu Raijua.

In addition, in Kupang City around Mapoli, Fatubena, and Fatubesi, Kupang Regency around Oekabilti, Camplong, Baumata, Oelnasi, Oenesu, and Oemofa, as well as North Central Timor around Batu Putih. The long extreme HTH area is around Rambangaru, East Sumba.

Rahmattulloh said that areas experiencing very long or extreme long HTH in order to anticipate the impact of meteorological drought.

The threat of drought can have an impact on the crisis of clean water as well as prone to forest and land fires.

"The community needs to have sufficient water availability for their needs in dealing with the threat of drought during the dry season," he said.
