33 Students Allegedly Anarko Secured Around The Palace

JAKARTA - Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Inspector General Nana Sudjana, said that the police had arrested 33 people suspected of being anarcho groups from students who were at the location of the demonstration against the Job Creation Act.

"Until now, we have secured about 33 people around the State Palace. We have secured this, not captured it," said Nana when met at the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue Area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 20.

However, Nana admitted that he had not received any information regarding the evidence that the group had brought in that allegedly intended to riot.

"This is in process," said Nana.

Nana said that the involvement of the anarcho group at the demonstration location was not as big as the previous action, namely on October 8 and October 13.

"Alhamdulillah, to date, the involvement of students or anarcho groups is not as big as a few days before," said Nana.

Since this afternoon, the police have been combing through the masses who are not from the Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI). They were prevented from entering the area of the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, so as not to 'infiltrate' the student demonstrations.

The crowd led by the police were mostly teenagers. They wore normal clothes, some wore swetears. The crowd was immediately taken using a police car that was prepared around the Horse Statue area.

In addition, the police at Monas Silang also checked the student demonstrators' bags. A number of police checked the student's carry-on bags before joining the crowd of demonstrators who were already near the barbed wire.

The demonstration this time was followed by BEM SI and a combination of other students. There are also labor organizations demonstrating demanding that President Jokowi issue a Perppu revoking the Job Creation Law.
