BMKG Warns Potential For Heavy Rain In The Mountains Of North Sumatra

MEDAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned the public to be on the alert for heavy rain in the mountains and eastern slopes of North Sumatra on Monday, May 30, afternoon and evening.

"Be wary of heavy rain in the mountains and eastern slopes, which could potentially lead to landslides and floods," said Medan BBMKG Forecaster Martha Manurung, quoted from Antara, Monday 30 May.

In general, the weather will be cloudy on Monday afternoon with the potential for moderate to heavy rain in the Madina, Karo, Nias Islands, Dairi, Taput, Humbanghasundutan, Langkat, Deli Serdang, Simalungun, Asahan, and surrounding areas.

At night there is the potential for light – moderate rain in Langkat, Karo, Simalungun, and surrounding areas and in the morning it will be mostly cloudy in North Sumatra.

The air temperature is 17.0 – 33.0 degrees Celsius, humidity is 60 – 98 percent, and the wind blows from the Southwest – Northwest at a speed of 10 – 30 km/hour.
