The Fate Of Honorary Nurses In Central Sulawesi Is Worrying, DPRD: Regents, Mayors And Governors Raise Their Salaries

PALU - DPRD member Marlelah said he was concerned about the condition of honorary nurses in Central Sulawesi Province. He asked the salary of the honorary nurses to be increased again.

According to the member of Commission III, honorary nurses deserve a salary according to the regional minimum wage (UMR) of Central Sulawesi Province. The reason is, their role is very vital because they are at the forefront in providing health services, especially to people who experience emergency conditions.

"At least we ask for the salaries of honorary nurses in all regions according to the UMR of Central Sulawesi Province or based on their level of education," he said in Palu, as reported by Antara, Saturday, May 28.

"The condition of these honorary nurses is very sad. I ask the regents and mayors and governors to pay attention to them. Please increase their salaries to the equivalent of the minimum wage."

"No more honorary nurses who are only paid less than Rp. 1,000,000 per month. Meanwhile, they have to work day and night," he continued.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Nurses Association (PPNI) of Central Sulawesi Province, Fajarillah Kolomboy Malonda, said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses, including those with honorary status, were at the forefront of dealing with and handling people who were exposed to COVID-19, so that threaten their safety.

Even during the 2018 earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction, nurses also played an important role at the forefront of providing health services to disaster-affected residents.

"Therefore, it is necessary for nurses to get attention from the government because the alignment of the fate of nurses is determined by political policies. We don't need to be involved in politics, but we still have to be close," he added.
