SERANG - Cipocok Jaya Police, Serang City Police, together with residents of the Muncul Jaya neighborhood succeeded in thwarting and evacuating the suicide attempt of Supriyati (36), a resident of Cipocok Jaya Village, Serang City, by climbing a tower of an overhead power line in the Muncul Jaya neighborhood, Cipocok district, Tuesday, 24.

Cipocok Jaya Police Chief Commissioner Adjutant Boy Achmad confirmed the incident.

"After receiving reports from residents about an attempted suicide by Supriyati (36), I and the picket personnel immediately responded by visiting the crime scene," said Cipocok Jaya Police Chief, in a written statement, Tuesday, May 24.

"When we arrived at the location, Supriyati had already climbed on the tower saying that she would jump to end her life," he added.

Seeing this incident, the Cipocok Police Chief along with his family and community persuaded Supriyati not to jump.

"After an hour, the perpetrator looked tired on the jetty, I finally ordered her husband and the residents and police personnel to go up to pick up the victim above. Alhamdulillah, finally the perpetrator can be lowered safely," said Boy Achmad.

Boy Achmad said the perpetrator attempted suicide due to depression. It is suspected that the cause of the victim's suicide attempt was depression due to disharmony in the family.

"The victim has been brought home by her family," said Cipocok Jaya Police Chief.
