All Developments Regarding The Bengkulu Explosion

JAKARTA - Two days ago, a homemade bomb exploded in Padang Serunaian Village, Bengkulu. In fact, as a result of the incident, a local resident, Halidin, was injured. However, the police emphasized that the explosion was not related to acts of terror and was more directed at the Village Head Election (Pilkades).

Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Pol Asep Adi Saputra, said that in order to ascertain the motive behind the explosion, investigators from the Bengkulu Regional Police had asked for statements from a number of witnesses. It was recorded that ten people were investigated regarding the explosion.

"Today ten witnesses have been examined. Consisting of village and community officials," said Asep in Jakarta, Monday, January 13.

In addition, investigators have collected a number of pieces of evidence relating to the explosion. Regarding the suspect, the investigation is still ongoing to reveal it. "It is still under investigation (about the suspect) but the motive is clearly not related to terrorism," said Asep.

On a different occasion, Head of Bengkulu Police Public Relations Kombes Sudarno said that the alleged explosion was related to the Pilkades because the victim's children participated in inviting the election.

Moreover, if they retreated a few days before the explosion, the victim had been involved in the commotion. It's just that, not explained in detail the cause or problem that triggers it. So, to prove all these allegations, investigators continue to carry out investigations.

"Yesterday some time ago, it was a riot, it was reconciled. It was a riot, but it's still a conjecture. We are still investigating," said Sudarno, Saturday, January 11.

Regarding the type of bomb, the case has yet to be confirmed. However, it was emphasized that the bomb was not high explosive. This can be seen from the absence of damage at the scene of the explosion.

"Low explosive, because at the TKP nothing was damaged either," said Sudarno.
