Jokowi Has 'closed' To Ganjar Pranowo, Less Likely To Support Puan In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is considered to have made his choice to provide support for the 2024 Presidential Election. This support was implied when Jokowi attended the V Projo National Work Meeting in Magelang, Central Java. The event was also attended by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo.

Political observer from Al-Azhar University, Ujang Komarudin, assessed that Jokowi's attitude showed that he did not support DPR Speaker Puan Maharani.

Where internally, Puan, who is the Chair of the PDIP DPP, has the support to be carried in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"That statement implies that Jokowi is unlikely to support Puan," said Ujang in Jakarta, Monday, May 23.

According to the analysis of the Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Review (IPR), Jokowi is unlikely to support the figure carried by the PDIP. The reason is that politically it will affect Jokowi himself because he is no longer in power.

Moreover, if PDIP carries Puan Maharani and wins in the 2024 presidential election, then Jokowi will "run out" after he is no longer President. This is because Jokowi cannot control Puan, while she is only a party official according to the General Chair of the PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"Jokowi will not be able to control Puan Maharani, because Puan Maharani will certainly be more obedient to Megawati. If that's the case, Jokowi will not have any power when he is no longer president," he explained. On the other hand, Ganjar is more controllable and can secure aliases to back up Jokowi when he is no longer president.

"Ganjar is considered to be able to obey and submit to Jokowi," concluded Ujang. It is known, in his mandate to the Projo National Working Meeting, Jokowi advised not to be hasty in making choices. However, he signaled support for someone he said was present at the event.

"Regarding politics, don't rush political matters, even though maybe the ones we support are here," said Jokowi, Saturday, May 21. "It's been said, don't be in a hurry. It seems like this is going to be rushed," Jokowi continued.
