Lingga Regency Enters Green Zone After 4 Weeks Of Zero Active Cases Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - Lingga Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri) is currently designated a green zone after four weeks of zero active cases of COVID-19.

Spokesman for the Riau Islands COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Tjetjep Yudiana, in Tanjungpinang, Sunday, said that the Anambas Islands Regency, which has no active cases for more than four weeks, is still a yellow zone or low risk of transmission, the same as five other districts and cities in Riau Islands.

Currently, he said, the number of active cases in Riau Islands is only three people after one Batam City resident recovered from COVID-19.

"Batam has zero active cases of COVID-19 after one patient recovered," said the former Head of the Riau Islands Health Office.

Active cases of COVID-19 in Riau Islands are spread in Tanjungpinang, Bintan Regency and Karimun Regency. Meanwhile, Natuna Regency has zero active cases of COVID-19 since about three weeks ago.

"Hopefully the three patients in Tanjungpinang, Bintan and Karimun will recover soon," he said.

Tjetjep said that the average COVID-19 patient recovered quickly.

Based on the results of the study, more than 90 percent of patients contracted Omicron, a variant of COVID-19 so that it is easy to recover.

"Omicron is easily contagious, but patients recover quickly," he said.

He appealed to residents to support the COVID-19 vaccination program, especially the two-dose and booster doses.

Tjetjep added that the current achievement of booster dose vaccination has only reached 592,860 people or 43.17 percent.

While the first dose of vaccination reached 1,758,806 people or 97.56 percent, and the second dose of vaccination was 1,513,322 people or 83.95 percent.
