Three Fishermen Hit By Waves In Aceh Besar Waters Are Still In Search Of Basarnas Team

JAKARTA - A motorboat with three fishing crews capsized in the waters of Lhok Mata Ie, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province.

The head of the Banda Aceh Basarnas, Budiono, in Banda Aceh, said that two of the victims were rescued by other fishermen, while one victim was reported missing.

"However, the victim who was reported missing was finally rescued by a passing fisherman. The missing victim is Andika (43), a resident of Mibo, Bandaraya District, Banda Aceh City," Budiono said, quoting Antara, May 22.

Budiono said the incident began when the three fishermen were fishing into the sea using a motorboat to the waters of Lhok Mata Ie, Aceh Besar District, Saturday, May 21. around 9:00 am.

At around 3:45 p.m., their motorboat was hit by the waves and overturned. Two of them were rescued by fishermen who were around the waters. However, the victim on behalf of Andika was reported missing.

Budiono said that the Banda Aceh Basarnas received reports of missing fishermen at around 20.30 western Indonesia time. From the report, Basarnas dispatched seven personnel using an RIB boat to look for victims.

After a search of less than two hours, the SAR team received information that the victim was rescued by another fishing boat and had been handed over to the family.

"With the discovery of the victim in a safe condition, the SAR operation is declared complete. Personnel and other SAR elements seen in the search are returned to their respective agencies," said Budiono.
