Holds Action Today, BEM SI Hope Jokowi Can Oration And Hear It

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) will again hold a demonstration against the Job Creation Law today at the State Palace.

BEM SI Media Coordinator, Andi Khiyarullah hopes that students will have space to give speeches to voice their reasons for rejecting the ratification of the Job Creation Law.

"We will try to deliver the speech to be more conducive than the previous action. And we make sure that all participants in the action leave with a peaceful heart," said Andi when confirmed by VOI , Friday, October 16.

Andi hopes that the police will not act repressively and arbitrarily in facing the mass action. Because, reflecting on the demonstration on Thursday, October 8, the clashes had occurred and tear gas had been fired since 14.00 WIB.

Andi also hopes that the government, especially President Joko Widodo, will hear the aspirations of students. "We ensure that apart from the repression of the authorities in the previous action, it will not be repeated in today's action and the government should listen to the hopes of its people," he said.

On this occasion he said that the action to be carried out by 6,000 students had already notified the security forces. The notification letter was given by BEM SI representatives in Jakarta.

"We have given notification to the police regarding today's action," he said.

The following are the demands and stance statements of the All Indonesia BEM Alliance in holding a demonstration today:

1. Urge the President to issue a PERPPU to revoke the Job Creation Law which was passed on Monday, October 5, 2020

2. Condemn the government's actions that try to intervene in the people's movements and voices against the rejection of the Job Creation Law

3. Condemn the various repressive actions of the state apparatus against all mass actions

4. Inviting all Indonesian students to unite to continue to convey rejection of the Job Creation Law until the Job Creation Law is revoked and canceled.
