6,000 Bottles Of Water For The Blessing Of Vesak Celebration Taken From Umbul Jumprit Temanggung, Sacred In Mendut Temple

TEMANGGUNG - A total of 6,000 bottles of blessed water for the 2566 Buddhist Era (BE) Vesak celebration at Borobudur Temple, Magelang Regency, were taken from Umbul Jumprit in Tegalrejo Village, Ngadirejo, Temanggung Regency, Central Java.

Head II of the DPD Representative for Indonesian Buddhists (Walubi) in Central Java who is also the Coordinator of Vesak 2566 BE at Borobudur Temple, Tanto Soegito Harsono said the Vesak blessed water was brought to Mendut Temple today to be sacred.

On Monday, May 16, the morning of the new Vesak blessing water was brought to Borobudur Temple along with the Vesak dharma fire taken from Mrapen, Grobogan Regency which had been buried at Mendut Temple since Saturday, May 14 afternoon.

"Later, the blessed water can be used by anyone during the Vesak celebration at Borobudur," he said in Temanggung as reported by Antara, Sunday, May 15.

The ritual of taking the blessed water at Umbul Jumprit is carried out by monks from a number of sanghas in turn. Previously they performed worship services with Buddhists at the Umbul Jumprit altar.

Bante Kamsai Sumano Mahathera said the taking of blessed water is carried out every year in the series of the Tri Suci Vesak.

"Water is cold, water is clean, so daily life uses water. The body has lots of water so it can be healthy, safe," he said after carrying out the ritual of taking blessed water at Umbul Jumprit.

He conveyed that the blessed water was prayed first so that it became clean water in the body.

"Holy water is also prayed here so that this supports clean water in the body and also Vesak Day is a holy day. So the two holy ones are natural and the Buddha is a holy person. There is purity then the water in our bodies is also healthy, if the water of wisdom also becomes holy water," he said.
