JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim said the Merdeka Curriculum, which is part of the Freedom of Learning policy, is able to reduce the impact of the loss of learning due to COVID-19 pandemic.
"The Merdeka Curriculum, which started as an effort to help teachers and students during the pandemic, has proven to be able to reduce the impact of the loss of learning," he said at a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas) which was monitored in Jakarta, Friday, May 13.
He added that currently the Independent Curriculum has been applied to 140,000 education units throughout the country.
Thus, he said, hundreds of thousands of students have learned in a fun and liberating way.
"Our children no longer need to worry about passing tests, because the national assessment we use does not aim to punish teachers or students, but as a reflection material so that teachers continue to be motivated to learn, so that school principals are motivated to improve the quality of their schools to be more inclusive, and free from the threat of the three major sins of education," he explained.
In addition, he continued, artists and cultural actors can rise and work again with the presence of the cultural endowment fund and the first cultural channel in the country.
"The impact is that now there is no longer a limitation of space and support to continue to express, to continue to move the advancement of culture," added Nadiem.
All the positive changes incorporated in the Free Learning policy were not only felt by students, teachers, parents, and other education personnel, but also echoed at the international level through the G20 Indonesia Presidency.
This proves that Indonesia is no longer just a follower, but a leader of the world recovery movement.
Nadiem invites all stakeholders to continue to lead the recovery and to realize the Freedom of Learning.
