JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday morning left for Washington DC, United States to attend a series of meetings of the ASEAN-US Special Summit (ASEAN-US Special Summit) which lasted for two days.
"As for the series that I will attend, including meetings with members of congress, meetings with big CEOs from America (United States), and also meetings with Vice President Harris (Kamala Harris, ed) and the United States climate change team," Jokowi said before his departure to Washington, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Tuesday 10 May.
In addition, of course, at the summit, President Jokowi will attend a high-level meeting of ASEAN leaders and US President Joe Biden.
Currently, the President said, Indonesia is the coordinator of the ASEAN-US partnership for the period 2021-2024.
Indonesia hopes that the ASEAN-US Special Summit will result in cooperation that can contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
"With the ASEAN Outlook On the Indo-Pacific, ASEAN is ready to synergize with all ASEAN partner countries including the US in developing concrete, inclusive, and mutually beneficial cooperation. We have a responsibility to make Indo-Pacific a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region," said the President.
The President will return from Washington, USA, after the series of meetings are completed on May 13, 2022, and is scheduled to arrive in the country on Sunday, May 15, 2022.
