Again! Burnt Bread Factory In Padang During Eid Holiday, No Casualties

PADANG – The fire disaster during this Lebaran season has happened again. A bakery on Belanti street, Padang City, West Sumatra caught fire during the Eid 1443 Hijri holiday on Thursday, May 5 morning.

Head of Ops for the Padang City Fire Department, Sutan Hendra, in Padang, Thursday said officers received a report that a fire had occurred at around 09.00 WIB and then departed and arrived at the location at 09.07 WIB.

"We extinguished the fire until 10.30 WIB with eight units of fire fighting vehicles," Hendra said as quoted by Antara.

He said testimony from witnesses said that there was an explosion in the air conditioner and the fire grew. Seeing the fire, the witness immediately contacted the fire department.

"We have information on the cause, but we can't confirm the cause of the fire yet," he said.

He said the bread factory's area is 1,000 square meters and the burned area is about 500 square meters. The building is located in a densely populated residential area and the one that caught fire was a permanent building.

"Thank God there were no casualties in this incident. The building caught fire and the owner managed to get out of the building," he said.

He appealed to the residents of Padang City to always be vigilant and check the electrical installations in their homes or buildings so that they are in good condition. "In addition, always be aware of the triggers of fires," he said.

Previously, there was also a fire that scorched seven shop plots on Jhoni Anwar Street, Padang City, West Sumatra on Wednesday morning. The fire was thought to have been caused by an electric short circuit and caused the building to collapse.
