JAKARTA - Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi ordered the Central Java Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) to investigate the ship fire at Wijayapura Port, Cilacap. This step was taken because this incident caused a loss of up to IDR 130 billion.

"I have ordered the Labfor to come here. The source of the spark will be investigated by Labfor," said Ahmad in a written statement, Wednesday, May 4.

Ahmad said a total of 45 boats were burned, with details of 44 fishing boats and one take boat.

"Losses due to the fire almost reached IDR 130 billion. This is because there were 44 boats (fishers, ed) and one take boat that caught fire," he said.

Furthermore, the cause of the ship's fire is not yet known, so it still needs to be investigated. However, based on the information summarized, the source of the fire came from one of the crew on his ship.

"For the time being, we have seen sparks carried out by one crew member (ABK) on one ship. We will investigate this. This is all to make light of the case related to the fire," explained Ahmad.

In addition, he said the location of the ship fires occurred at four different points.

"The results of the investigation while the fire occurred at points ABC and D. Once it caught fire, a number of ships were scattered due to the tides," he concluded.
