Confession Of One Of The Prisoners Who Received Free Remission: Go Home, I Want To Hug My Wife And Want To Work As An Angkot Driver

JAKARTA - Eight inmates from the Salemba Correctional Institution (WBP) or inmates at the Salemba Class 1A Detention Center, Central Jakarta, made a prostration of gratitude after receiving free remission on Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri on Monday, May 2.

Accompanied by emotion, the inmates, who are predominantly teenagers, kiss the ground while prostrating themselves when they can breathe fresh air.

They were also provided with Eid gifts given by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Kemenkumham Regional Office, Ibnu Chuldun at the Salemba Rutan Class 1A, Central Jakarta.

After following the self-registration process, one by one out of eight inmates began to leave the Class 1A Salemba Rutan, Central Jakarta through the main exit.

Adi (40), one of the prisoners who received free remission admitted that he was happy to get this Eid remission. He admitted that he had missed his little family.

"Going home immediately, I want to hug my wife, and my two children. This free will also want to do the right job, which is to be an angkot driver," he said.

But the thing that cuts the heart can be seen from one of the prisoners from West Jakarta named Rafli (20). Getting a free remission, the young man in the theft case admitted that his parents and relatives did not pick him up. Rafli said that he deliberately did not tell his parents.

"My parents didn't know I was free, they weren't told about it before. My friends didn't know either," said the young man who admitted that he regretted his actions, Monday, May 2.

After leaving the Salemba detention center, Rafli said he would visit his mother's house during his freedom from behind bars on this Eid al-Fitr.

"I want to be with my family, I'm sorry. I want to go to a woman's parents' house," he said with teary eyes holding back emotion.

The man, a resident of North Bambu City, admitted that he had given up and regretted his actions that violated the law. He promised not to do it again.

"The sentence is 1 year in prison for the theft of cellphones in the Rawa Belong area, West Jakarta. Taking cellphones from the victim's motorbike," he said.

In his action, Rafli did it alone. He was in need because he did not have the skills and steady job.

"I'm tired, sir!" he said.

After the release of the convicts, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of DKI Jakarta, Ibnu Chuldun, stated that the Jakarta Correctional Service provided remissions to 7,489 prisoners out of a total of 16,151 in Jakarta detention centers and prisons.

"The special remission I was given to 731 inmates and the special remission II which was immediately released was 122 people in Jakarta, 8 of them were from the Class 1A Salemba Rutan, Central Jakarta," he said.

The Regional Head of Regional Office hopes that after Ramadan, all prisoners will be more disciplined in carrying out coaching and become good prisoners so that in the future they will get remission again.

"For a whole month, all the inmates have been worshiping Ramadan and today has won the day of victory," he said.

Head of the Salemba Class 1A Detention Center (Karutan) in Central Jakarta, Fonika Affandi, said that since the first day of Eid, Monday, May 2, 934 inmates have received remission. The amount of remission starts from 15 days or a month 15 days.

Meanwhile, those who get free remission are prisoners who are involved in general criminal cases.

"I sent a message to them to be righteous, not to repeat crimes again until they go back to jail," he said.
