Khofifah Surati Jokowi Asks To Suspend Job Creation Law, Governor Of South Sulawesi Reminds No Anarchist Demonstrations

MAKASSAR - Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Nurdin Abdullah attended a virtual limited meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This Ratas responded to the turmoil in the regions related to the demonstration against the Job Creation Law which led to chaos.

This riot also occurred in Makassar at the demonstration, Thursday, October 8. Students who gathered at the DPRD Sulsel building made a scene when they were pushed back towards the Urip Sumoharjo flyover.

The chaos continued into the night. Videotron at the South Sulawesi governor's office was burned. Meanwhile at Unismuh there were also clashes with the police.

"Regarding the demonstrations held in Makassar and a number of other areas in South Sulawesi, I appreciate the actions of students and laborers who purely fight for the aspirations of the people, as a form of scholarly calling as campus personnel," said Nurdin Abdullah, Friday, October 9.

Apart from South Sulawesi, riots occurred in the East Java region. East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa finally responded to workers' demands to reject the Job Creation Law. Khofifah in an official letter from the East Java Provincial Government asked President Jokowi to suspend the Job Creation Law.

"It is hereby conveyed to the President, that we, on behalf of the East Java Provincial Government, on behalf of the community, workers / laborers, submit a request to you to be pleased to consider the suspension of the Omnibus Law Law which has obtained a joint agreement between the Government of Indonesia and the Indonesian Parliament on the date October 5, 2020, ”said Khofifah in a signed letter, Thursday, October 8.
