600 Raiders Infantry Battalion Ready To Go To Papua

BALIKPAPAN - The Commander of Kodam VI/Mulawarman, Major General TNI Teguh Pudjo Rumekso, met and saw the readiness of soldiers from the 600 Modang Raider Infantry Battalion. These soldiers will serve in Papua.

"Use the knowledge and training that has been given to make all assignments given," said Rumekso, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 26.

The Commander reminded that in this assignment there should be no personnel or material losses caused by his own negligence and carelessness.

Prior to this, all soldiers had undergone physical, mental, and military-technical training according to the terrain and conditions in Papua.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the 600 Modang Raider Infantry Battalion, Major Infantry Kurniawan H Arridho, stated that in addition to personnel readiness, the troops were also supported by equipment readiness.

This opportunity was also used by Rumekso to greet the soldiers, apart from planting a small sapodilla tree in the troop's command headquarters complex.

Raider troops or soldiers are included as elite infantry troops. As the name implies, raiders or ambushers, this troop carries the motto "Quick, Silent, Precise".

An ordinary infantryman in a green beret must undergo at least six months of training under the command of special forces before finally being entitled to wear a raider dark green beret. Raiders are also capable of anti-terror and anti-guerrilla warfare. The Raiders Infantry Battalion was formed in 2004, during the leadership of the Army Chief of Staff, General TNI Ryamizard Ryacudu.

Each Kodam has one of these battalions, which are trained in an integrated and very intensive manner through a special formation program. The new units in each Kodam are still being added by several Infantry Raiders Battalions recruited from the Kostrad infantry battalions. The inauguration of the Infantry Raiders Battalion was held on Jalan Benyamin Suaeb, the former runway of Kemayoran International Airport, Jakarta, on Bhakti Kartika Day of the Indonesian Army 2004.

Some of the raider soldiers from the Modang 600 Infantry Battalion also have experience training with US Army soldiers. In 2021, they trained together in Operation Garuda Shield 2021, in the form of a beach landing.
