TANJUNGPINANG - The joint SAR team conducted a search operation for a missing girl, Rina (13), allegedly attacked by a crocodile in the Mangrove River, Toapaya District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri).
"It is true, we have received information that a girl was attacked by a crocodile," said Head of the Tanjungpinang SAR Office, Slamet Riyadi, quoted by Antara, Monday, April 25.
Slamet said that his party received the information at around 17.00 WIB from a member of the Indonesian Navy Darmadi.
Based on information in the field, he said again, the victim was looking for shellfish/lokan with his grandfather in the Mangrove River area, around 14.00 WIB. However, suddenly the victim was attacked by a crocodile and immediately taken to the mouth of the river.
"Until now the victim has not been found," said Slamet.
The search for victims involved a combination of elements, starting from the Tanjungpinang SAR Office, Bintan Police, TNI, BPBD, Tagana Bintan, and the local community.
The joint team as of Monday night was still exploring the Mangrove River to find victims, using a set of rubber boats.
