120 Bottles Of Alcohol Confiscated By Satpol PP From Roadside Herbalists, Officers Say It's Illegal To Get A Permit Before You Can

JAKARTA - The Civil Service Pattern Unit (Satpol PP) Taman Sari, West Jakarta confiscated 120 bottles of liquor from herbal medicine traders because they did not have a permit. The confiscation was carried out when officers conducted a raid, on Friday morning, April 22.

"We are transporting 120 bottles of liquor of various types and brands," said Head of Satpol PP Taman Sari District, Edison Butarbutar when confirmed, Friday, April 22.

Edison said the activity was carried out in order to eradicate the circulation of illegal alcohol during the month of Ramadan.

Hundreds of bottles of unlicensed alcohol were confiscated by officers while conducting raids at several points including Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta, Jalan Mangga Besar, Jalan Labu, and Jalan Purity Krukut.

The liquor was confiscated from the herbal medicine sellers in the carts and shops. Later, the hundreds of bottles of alcohol will be handed over to the Mayor of West Jakarta as evidence and will then be destroyed.

Meanwhile, the alcohol dealer will be summoned to the sub-district office to be subject to a judicial fine.

Edison appealed to alcohol traders not to sell illegal merchandise, especially during the month of Ramadan.

"Please take care of the permit. Don't be illegal. It means we don't prohibit it, but we have a valid permit," explained Edison.
