After Two Days Of Searching, SAR Team Finds Drift Fisherman Dead In North Minahasa

MANADO - The joint SAR team found a fisherman who drowned while fishing at Lilang Beach, Kema District, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, dead.

The head of the Manado Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) Suhri Sinaga in Manado, Wednesday, April 20, said that after two days of searching, the joint SAR team managed to find the 65-year-old victim named Freddy Angkouw.

"The joint SAR team managed to find the victim as far as 2 Nml from the beach in Lilang Village, dead. The victim was immediately evacuated, brought to the beach, and handed over to the victim's family for burial," said two, quoted by Antara.

Sinaga appreciates all personnel in the joint SAR team who have worked optimally to find the whereabouts of victims to locations that are quite far from the radius of the search area.

In today's search, the weather conditions are calm, unlike on Tuesday (19/4) which was marked by high waves and strong winds.

"With the discovery of the victim, we will close this SAR operation. Thank you to the SAR potential that has participated in the SAR operation so that the victim is found," he said.

During the search, the joint SAR team carried out a zigzag search method and the Basarnas team used a sophisticated tool, Aqua Eye, to detect the victim's presence.

Personnel in the joint SAR team, such as from Basarnas, TNI, Police, RAPI, and the local community, coordinate with each other in the search for victims.
