Water From Katulampa Arrives In Jakarta, 29 RTs On The Ciliwung Bank Are Immediately Flooded

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 29 RTs in Jakarta were flooded this morning, as of 09.00 WIB.

The flood that hit the RT, located on the banks of the Ciliwung River, occurred after the water came from the Katulampa Dam. The water level in Katulampa has increased after heavy rains hit Bogor City yesterday afternoon until evening.

"There are currently 29 RTs out of 30,470 RTs in Jakarta with water levels of more than 40 centimeters," said Head of the DKI BPBD Disaster Information and Data Center M. Insaf in a statement, Tuesday, April 19.

In detail, there were 9 RTs that were submerged in Cawang Village, East Jakarta with water levels ranging from 50 to 130 centimeters.

Then, there were 19 RTs that were submerged in Kampung Melayu Village, East Jakarta with water levels ranging from 50 to 125 centimeters. Furthermore, there was 1 RT that was submerged in Rawajati Village, South Jakarta with a water level of up to 130 centimeters.

"The cause of the inundation of 29 RTs is the overflow of the Ciliwung River. There are no refugees so far. The inundation condition is being handled by the SDA, Firefighters, and Kelurahan PPSU Services. The inundation is targeted to recede in a short time," explained Insaf.

Last night, the Katulampa Dam experienced an increase in water level (TMA) reaching 130 cm so that it was on Alert 3 for flooding in DKI Jakarta, due to heavy rains that fell in almost all areas of Bogor on Monday around 16.00-20.01 WIB.

Head of Katulampa Dam, Andi Sudirman, said that heavy rains that lasted for approximately 4 hours in the Bogor area caused the TMA to rise.

"The increase in TMA began at around 18.00 WIB, because since 16.00 WIB the Bogor area from upstream had been raining. The discharge reached 91,760 liters/second," Andi said as quoted by Antara.
