West Sumatra NII Network Wants To Overthrow Jokowi's Government Before The 2024 Election!

JAKARTA - Based on the results of the Densus 88 Anti-terror investigation, the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) terrorist network in West Sumatra has plans to overthrow the government of Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The plan must be carried out before the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) is held.

"A number of plans are being prepared by the West Sumatra NII network, namely efforts to overthrow a sovereign government before the 2024 election year," said Head of Operations for Densus 88 Anti-terror Kombes Kombes Aswin Siregar in his statement, Monday, April 18.

The disclosure of this terrorist network plan was based on the evidence found during the arrest of dozens of NII members, one of which was a written document.

The document contains a vision and mission to replace the Pancasila ideology and the current system of Indonesian government with Islamic law, the caliphate system, and Islamic law.

Then, from several plans that the NII network has, Aswin continued, there is also the potential for an attack. Because, found orders to prepare weapons.

"Among these plans, there are also potential threats in the form of terror attacks which are contained in the order to prepare sharp weapons (called 'machetes')," he said.

"The findings of the evidence for the direction of the machete preparation are in sync with the findings of a long machete belonging to one of the suspects," continued Aswin.

Previously reported, Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested 16 terrorist suspects of the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) network in West Sumatra. They actively recruit new members by involving minors.

In addition, they are also active in conducting i'dad activities or military-style exercises on a regular basis. They are also said to be connected to several terrorist groups in Jakarta, West Java and Bali.
